The HDCC-200A is a low cost compact and modular closed caption encoder / decoder bridge for standard and high definition broadcast and production applications. It is designed to occupy a single card slot in a variety of compact modular conversion frames capable of accepting 10 cards in 3RU or 2 cards in 1RU frames.

Each HDCC-200 card is designed to work as and encoder and decoder. The card will accept HD/SD-SDI, World System Teletex (WST), or live data via an RS-232 port that accepts Newfor protocol. The card automatically formats the data for insertion into the HD-VANC space as set out in, CEA-608B, CEA-708B ITU-TH.222 and the Australian Free TV OP47 specifications. Once in the HD-VANC the data may be either recorded on a variety of HD storage devices or distributed via the facilities Digital Video distribution network.

As well as being able to convert WST to HD-VANC data, the card will also convert WSS and GPI data for subsequent insertion into HD-VANC. In the decode mode the card will convert the HD-VANC data back to WST, WSS and GPI data onto the SD-SDI output stream.

An optional DSTD-100 closed caption decoder may be used to monitor the caption on the HD and SD outputs. Where further analysis or logging is required there is also an optional data output and Windows based program, which can be used to log all captions processed through the card.
