Harris Predator II-GX™ HD Multi-Image Display for Broadcast and Professional AV Applications
Scalable, Next-Generation Control and Monitoring Solutions
Predator II-GX is more than just an HD multiviewer — it is a complete HD control and monitoring solution. It features auto-sensing support for multiple input standards and a modular architecture that allows smaller models to be expanded as demand grows. The Predator II-GX multiviewer is an ideal solution for smaller control room settings as a standalone system for 4 to 32 channels, or for medium to large control rooms where multiple Predator II-GX multiviewers can be combined as part of a distributed multiviewer solution.
Combining pristine quality images, easy-to-use editing software and an array of standard monitoring capabilities, the Predator II-GX also offers extensive ancillary data decoding capabilities and provides on-screen decode and display of closed caption, digital vertical interval time code and aspect ratio data (Wide Screen Signaling/Active Format Description). The optional computer graphics card allows for the addition of test, monitoring or control sources on-screen as part of the multi-image display.
The Predator II-GX multiviewer is well-suited for a control room that is expected to be redundant, flexible and open to future growth. Available in a 1 or 2RU enclosure, Predator II-GX offers industry-leading graphic capabilities and is ideally suited to master control, outside broadcast and production environments.
Excellence in Image Quality and Display
The Predator II-GX multiviewers feature native HD input processing to ensure there are no compromises in picture quality. The systems match the native resolution of today’s leading display technologies to drive high-resolution displays up to 1920x1200. The result — pristine images that support true HDTV monitoring.
Greater Control/Ease of Use
Predator II-GX multiviewers feature the powerful Z-Configurator™ layout editing software to make system setup, operation and control effortless — all from a single location. The creation of layouts could not be simpler: you have the option to edit pre-loaded basic templates or to use the drag-and-drop functionality to quickly create and save any source in the layout — including across two displays when used in the Dual Head display mode. This means instant reconfigurability is always available at the touch of a button. When the Predator II-GX is used as part of a distributed system in which several multiviewers are combined to drive a large number of displays, the Z-Configurator software allows the operator to centrally control all of the systems from one location, providing full control of the entire video wall.
The Predator II-GX multiviewers feature additional options for flexible operator control, including a front-panel LCD menu, on-screen display, GPI, serial and Ethernet interfaces, and support for numerous protocols for third-party integration.
Superior Flexibility
Offering a choice of affordable, true HDTV video and audio monitoring, Predator II-GX systems are available in 4, 8, 12 (1RU) and 12, 16, 20, 24, 32 (2RU) channel solutions. The systems allow both HDTV and legacy SDI signals to be used together, bridging the migration to HDTV signal formats.
Any model in the range can be upgraded at a later date to a large model in the same chassis by purchasing the option ZP2-OPT-VID4 four-channel processing card. Additionally, computer graphics inputs may be added to all models, with the exception of the fully loaded HD32. Option ZP2-OPT-GRF2 is a dual-channel processing card that can support DVI or VGA sources (via a DVI-I interface) with resolutions from 800x600 to 1920x1200.
The flexibility extends to the display, where all inputs are fully scalable and resizable using the dynamic Z-Configurator software. Users can instantly update displays with customized layouts, templates, styles and monitoring options — including the Dual Head mode.
The Predator II-GX multiviewer can drive one high-resolution output up to 1920x1200 and use a duplicate of that output to drive a redundant or secondary display or to convert for distribution. When switched to Dual Head mode, the system can drive two high-resolution displays up to 1920x1080. Any input can be displayed on either output, and images can also be spanned to add further flexibility. With support for an extensive library of display types, as well as providing full operator control over configurations, Predator II-GX multiviewers offer the ultimate in multifunctional HDTV monitoring.
Advanced Performance
The superior processing technology of Predator II-GX results in performance that is second to none. All Predator II-GX multiviewers boast faultless image quality, immediate sytem startup and the lowest minimum frame delays (<1 frame) from source to output, making these multiviewers a reliable choice in critical production environments.
Predator II-GX functionality is further enhanced with an impressive set of features that can be easily set up using the dynamic Z-Configurator software. Operators can benefit from auto-sensing of HD-SDI, SDI inputs and composite signals, in-picture embedded audio metering, fault detection and alarm messaging, dynamic UMDs, tally display, clock display and aspect ratio management.
Highly Efficient Operation
Predator II-GX multiviewers meet the demands of space-restrictive environments and are available in an exceptionally compact 1RU and 2RU chassis. This space-saving design greatly reduces power consumption, resulting in low long-term operational costs.
The 2RU chassis offers additional options, including redundant power supply, audio monitor output, master GPO and direct LTC input options.
The systems can be easily operated over a LAN network for centralized control and offer numerous protocols for seamless integration with third-party control room equipment.
Large-Scale Solutions
Combining Predator II-GX with Platinum™ routers provides an excellent solution for medium- to large-scale monitoring systems. By using a single Platinum router, up to 512 sources can be fed to up to 64 Predator II-GX systems. Source and destination names can be extracted from the router for display with the video, while Z-Configurator allows the user to dynamically switch router sources, offering the ability to pull any router source to any PIP.
Unmatched Reliability
Predator II-GX multiviewers are built on a highly robust, non PC-based architecture with low modularity to offer greater redundancy.
In the event of display failure, the Dual Head feature is a failsafe, as one command can quickly restore all inputs from the failed display to the active display. A preloaded default recovery configuration is recalled in this eventuality. In the 2RU models, hot-swappable, dual redundant power supplies make the unit perfect for 24/7 mission-critical installations.
